The infamous Nolan Ryan-Robin Ventura fight happened 20 years ago Sunday

Sunday marks the 20-year anniversary of one the most infamous brawls in history.

In one corner, Robin Ventura, White Sox third baseman: 26 years old, young and full of vigor, still at the beginning of a great Chicago career that would be followed by some heroics in a Mets uniform as well.

In the other, Nolan Ryan, Rangers starter: 46 years old, the wise veteran in his final MLB season, who appeared in a Mets World Series 31 years before Ventura did and went on to have successful enough careers with the Angels, Astros and Rangers to have his number retired by all three of them.

Experience trumped youth in this fight, as Ryan famously put Ventura in a headlock and either punched or noogied him multiple times, depending on your interpretation. Ventura was suspended two games; Ryan wasn't disciplined at all.

Ventura, now the White Sox manager, and Ryan, now the Rangers team president, say there is no bad blood between them any more. The two even chatted at a game last year. But while the enmity is gone, its memory endures. Watch it above.
