There's a chicken shagging fly balls in Cleveland right now

Some teams have angels in their outfield, while others have chickens.

Indians starter Justin Masterson, who "got the chicken from the father of a friend of a friend," presented the bird to reliever Cody "Chicken Al" Allen on Wednesday. It didn't take long before the team started calling the chicken Cody, too.

We suspect Masterson's prank was a reference to the movie Major League, in which the fictional Indians outfielder Pedro Cerrano believes sacrificing a chicken will help him win an important game. (Don't worry -- his teammates picked up some KFC instead.)

Even manager Terry Francona came out as pro-chicken.

"I actually love it," he told MLB.com. "They're trying to have fun, and that's the best way to be a good team. It doesn't mean we're not taking what we're doing seriously, because we really do. But yeah, I think it's a good way to come to the ballpark laughing. It's a good atmosphere."

The "Rally Chicken" proved a powerful good luck charm -- Cleveland clucked its way to a 6-4 win over the Orioles, clinching their series.
