After Big Papi's slam, 'Bullpen Cop' embodied Red Sox Nation

In one of the most dramatic moments in recent postseason memory, David Ortiz hit a game-tying grand slam in the eighth inning of Sunday's ALCS Game 2. The ball just snuck over the wall into the Boston bullpen, despite Torii Hunter's courageous attempt to corral it.

As the world watched it on TV, one man reacted from inches away. That man was bullpen police officer Steve Horgan, whose outstretched arms, jumping celebration and beard (we're talking about the Red Sox, after all) made him an instant local celebrity.

Need any more proof that "Bullpen Cop" resonated throughout Red Sox Nation on this night? After the game he met up with none other than Boston owner John Henry (and recreated his famous pose).

"I couldn't even hear myself it was so loud," the 27-year veteran police officer told ESPNBoston.com. "... I can't believe it. It was an awesome feeling."

Horgan, who started growing his own #GetBeard at the top of the postseason, quickly received "about 20" messages on his phone with the picture of his celebration from friends watching the game on television.
