The Rays saluted the military at Friday's spring opener in Port Charlotte with a special presentation by the U.S. Special Operations Command Parachute Team. The Para-Commandos performed a precision free-fall demonstration, jumping from an altitude of 12,500 feet and landing in the outfield grass at Charlotte Sports Park. The officer in charge of the jump team, Army Sergeant First Class Kyle Margelofsky, flew in with the American flag and threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The Parachute Team met with Rays Manager Joe Maddon prior to the game and gave him a baton, which the team members passed while descending in freefall.
