So what's this cricket sport all about, anyway? Here's a brief explanation

You're probably aware that the Opening Series between the Dodgers and D-backs is taking place at the Sydney Cricket Ground, a historic structure that opened in 1848. Baseball and cricket have a lot of similarities -- both are bat-and-ball games where the goal is to score more runs than the other team. But if you're an MLB fan who isn't from one of the regions where cricket is big (mostly the Caribbean, Great Britain, the Indian subcontinent, southern Africa and Oceania), the sport's rules might elude you.

We asked someone who understands both games -- Thom Carter, the New Jerseyan GM of the Australian Baseball League's Canberra Cavalry -- to explain. Check out what he had to say above.
