Cubs Grounds Crew vs. Wrigley Field Tarp: Who ya got?

main image

The Cubs held a 2-0 lead over the Giants in Chicago on Tuesday when torrential rains delayed the game. Out came the Wrigley Field grounds crew, unrolling the tarp to protect the sacred infield from water damage ... er ... parts of it anyway.

When the tarp is unrolled, it begins to collect water and becomes very heavy. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that the grounds crew unrolled it a bit crooked, leaving parts of the infield exposed on both sides. As the rain continues to pour, the crew dashes back and forth, struggling to correct their mistake while the rest of us play the Benny Hill theme song on loop in our brains.
