Josh Harrison receives Heart and Hustle award, absolutely lives up to it in Pirates win

main image

Josh Harrison can do it all. The first-time All-Star came into Friday's action hitting .304 with 12 home runs and 20 steals while playing five different positions. After receiving the Pirates' inaugural Heart and Hustle Award before Pittsburgh's game against the Reds, Harrison actually did it all.

Starting at third base, Harrison made a diving play in the hole in the 4th, a diving catch to the opposite direction in the 6th and another diving stop to start a key double play in the 7th. When Starling Marte's throw to Jordy Mercer got away in the top of the 8th, it was Harrison who collected the ball and gunned Brandon Phillips out at the plate, holding the Reds to a single run.

With the Pirates now trailing 1-0, Harrison came to the plate with a runner on first in the bottom half of the inning. Having already singled and doubled earlier in the game, naturally Harrison tripled off the Clemente Wall to tie the game. He would, of course, come around to score one batter later.

After all that, I wouldn't be shocked if Harrison also cut the grass before the game and cooked the food for the post-game spread.

But that's a lot of words. Wouldn't you rather just see a repeating image that sums it all up for you?

Josh Harrison

Yeah, that's better.
